Northeast Para Swimming Development Clinic
University of Massachusetts – Amherst
November 17-19, 2017
Twenty-five youth and high school swimmers with visual or mobility impairments (“Para swimmers”) from eight northeast states will assemble at U.Mass Amherst this November to improve stroke technique, build confidence, and learn about training for competitive swimming at the high school, college and national levels. Participating swimmers will renew established friendships and forge new ones within the Para swimming community.
Para swimmers at all levels of competitiveness are often members of school or club teams where they train among friends who mostly do not have disabilities. The Northeast Para Swimming Development Clinic will provide these swimmers with the rare opportunity for specialized and individualized coaching from successful Para swimmers and coaches with Para swimming expertise. Swimmers and accompanying school and club coaches will learn techniques, exercises and training plans to best accommodate their specific situations.
These swimmers could use your help. Your donation will help cover some of these costs:
$1500 – Friday or Saturday dinner
$750 – travel and accommodation for a national-level guest coach
$500 – accommodation scholarship for a needy athlete and parent
$350 – Saturday lunch at a UMASS dining hall
$250 – support for an athlete’s personal/club/school coach to attend
$100 – a commemorative swim bag and clinic T-shirts
$50 – one day of meals and snacks for an athlete
