Frequently asked questions

What does my fundraising support?

Every dollar raised supports adaptive sports programming for New England youth and adults with visual or mobility impairments, including wheelchair basketball, beep baseball, wheelchair track, wheelchair football, swimming, and more.

What if I don’t raise the full $15,000?

Runners commit to raising $15,000 by the start of the 131st Boston Marathon. Adaptive Sports New England will work with each runner throughout the season to help hit that goal, as early fundraising and outreach make a real difference.

Do I need marathon experience to apply?

No prior marathon experience is required. Runners of all backgrounds are welcome to apply, as long as they’re ready to commit to training and fundraising for race day.

Will I get training or fundraising support?

Yes. Selected runners join Team Adaptive Sports New England with fundraising guidance and promotion, plus a community of fellow charity runners working toward the same race. If desired, we can connect runners with some of our partners who run local training programs here in New England and cover their marathon training fee.

When does the application close?

Applications close September 30, 2026. Runners must be at least 18 years old on race day, April 19, 2027.
