Adaptive Sports New England is excited to announce that five current and former Para swimmers, all of them Paralympians, will serve as the coaching staff for the Northeast Para Swimming Development Clinic at UMass/Amherst November 17-19, 2017.
Michael Prout, Jr. (Boston, MA)
Ann Johannes (Boston, MA)
Daniel Kamber (Birmingham, AL)
Justin Fleming (Seattle, WA)
Roy Perkins, Jr. (San Diego/Palo Alto, CA)
Of the five, Prout, Johannes, Kamber and Fleming are currently coaching Para swimming programs in their hometowns. Perkins is a student at Stanford University where he is a member of the swim team while also maintaining U.S. Paralympics National Team status. These Para swimmers turned coaches will be joined and mentored by U.S. Paralympics High Performance Director for Swimming, Queenie Nichols (Colorado Springs, CO).
Slots for the clinic remain available for developing Para swimmers from the northeastern U.S. or elsewhere with a specific, though not exclusive, emphasis on middle and high school swimmers with visual or mobility impairments. You can learn more and apply for the clinic at www.adaptivesportsne.org.
The NE Para Swimming Clinic is made possible with the generous support of the Ruderman Family Foundation and the Craig H. Nielsen Foundation.
